Uttar Pradesh to get Rs 400 crore for airports

NEW DELHI: With an eye on the upcoming UP elections, the Centre on Monday said it will provide Rs 400 crore to develop airports in Agra, Allahabad, Kanpur and Bareilly. Minister of state for aviation Mahesh Sharma said the government will study the feasibility of developing no frills airports in Meerut, Faizabad and Moradabad.

“The case of constructing airport in Jewar (Greater Noida) had been sent to the ministry of defence for their no objection certificate,” Sharma said. The minister on Monday held a review meeting on the issue of developing airports in UP that was attended by aviation secretary R N Choubey and officials from the state.
